Stadium Equipment from China: Containers, Rail, and Air Freight for a Full Build
Building a modern football stadium means sourcing equipment from across the world. For this project, we delivered LED scoreboards, stadium seating, floodlighting systems, and structural components from China to the Baltics - combining sea containers, rail freight, and air cargo to meet the construction timeline.
What happened
A stadium construction project required dozens of different equipment categories from Chinese manufacturers. Some items had long lead times and could travel by sea. Others - like LED panels and electronics - were needed urgently and required air freight. The construction schedule dictated everything: each delivery had to arrive at the right moment.
What made it difficult
- 1Multiple cargo categories - seating, electronics, steel structures, lighting - each with different handling
- 2Mix of transport modes: sea containers (bulk), rail (mid-speed), air freight (urgent)
- 3China → EU customs clearance, CE certification, compliance documentation
- 4Construction schedule as the master timeline - no room for delay on any delivery
- 5Coordination with multiple Chinese suppliers and a single construction site
How we handled it
We mapped the full procurement list against the construction timeline and assigned each item to the optimal transport mode. Bulk items (seating, structures) went by sea container. Mid-priority items shipped by rail from China through Kazakhstan to Latvia. Urgent electronics and LED equipment flew by air freight. Customs clearance and CE documentation were prepared in advance for each shipment. One project manager coordinated all deliveries to the single construction site.
