Modular Houses: 6 Oversized Trucks from Latvia to Europe
A Latvian modular house manufacturer had orders from clients in Germany and Austria. 6 complete house modules - each 14 m long and 4 m wide - needed oversized transport across 4 countries. We managed permits, escort vehicles, and delivery scheduling to match crane availability at both construction sites.
What happened
Each module was 14 m x 4 m x 3.5 m - significantly oversized for road transport. The Austrian delivery required transit through mountain passes with tight curves and low clearances. Construction sites had crane rentals booked for specific days - late arrival would cost thousands in rebooking fees.
What made it difficult
- 114 m x 4 m x 3.5 m modules - major oversized loads
- 2Permits needed in 4 countries (LV, LT, PL, DE + AT for some)
- 3Austrian mountain passes with tight curves and low clearances
- 4Crane bookings at destination - arrival timing critical
- 5Rain protection for unfinished wooden modules
How we handled it
Permits were applied for 4 weeks in advance. The Austrian route was surveyed for clearances and curves - one section required a police-escorted detour. All modules were wrapped in weatherproof sheeting. Departure was staggered: 3 trucks to Germany first (4 days), then 3 trucks to Austria (6 days). Crane arrivals were confirmed 24 hours before each delivery. All 6 modules arrived on schedule and were set on foundations the same day.
