Glass & Windows Export: 4 FTL Trucks from Latvia to UK

Latvia → United Kingdom|5 days|4 FTL trucks

A Latvian window manufacturer won a contract to supply triple-glazed windows for a residential development in London. 4 full trucks of fragile glass products had to cross the Channel via ferry and clear post-Brexit customs. We organized specialized A-frame transport, UK customs documentation, and delivered all 4 trucks without a single cracked pane.

What happened

Post-Brexit, UK customs requires full export/import declarations, UK safety marks for construction products, and phytosanitary treatment certificates for wooden frames. The glass must not experience any vibration or shock during the ferry crossing and road transport. The London construction site had a 2-hour unloading window due to city traffic restrictions.

What made it difficult

  • 1Post-Brexit customs - full export/import declarations required
  • 2Fragile triple-glazed units - zero tolerance for breakage
  • 3Channel ferry crossing - securing against ship movement
  • 4London delivery window - 2 hours only due to traffic restrictions
  • 5UKCA marking requirements for construction products

How we handled it

All windows were loaded on steel A-frames with rubber cushioning and ratchet straps. Trucks had air-ride suspension for vibration reduction. UK customs documentation - export declarations, UKCA conformity evidence, and phytosanitary certificates for wooden frames - was prepared 5 days before dispatch. Ferry crossings were booked for calm weather windows. London delivery was scheduled for 6 AM to fit the 2-hour window. All 4 trucks delivered without a single broken pane.
