Film Production Logistics: Equipment Trucks for a Baltic Shoot
A film production crew shooting across multiple locations in Latvia needed dedicated transport for their equipment. 3 trucks for 2 weeks - camera rigs, lighting, grip equipment, props, and wardrobe. Different location every day or two. Trucks double as mobile storage on set. We provided the vehicles, drivers, and daily logistics coordination.
What happened
Film production schedules change constantly. A scene gets reshot, weather forces a location swap, the director adds a night shoot. Our trucks had to be flexible - sometimes waiting on location all day, sometimes moving at 4 AM to reach a sunrise shoot. And the equipment is expensive: cameras, lenses, and lighting rigs worth hundreds of thousands of euros.
What made it difficult
- 1Schedule changes daily - drivers must be flexible with call times
- 2Remote locations - forest roads, unpaved surfaces, limited turning space
- 3High-value equipment - cameras and lenses require vibration-free transport
- 4Trucks serve as on-set storage - must remain accessible throughout the shoot day
- 52-week commitment with unpredictable daily schedules
How we handled it
We assigned 3 trucks with dedicated drivers for the full 2 weeks. Drivers received the next day's call sheet every evening and adjusted accordingly. For remote locations, we scouted access routes in advance. High-value equipment was secured with padded interiors and air-ride suspension. Trucks stayed on location during filming - positioned where the crew needed them, moved when the setup changed. Direct communication line between our dispatcher and the production coordinator.
