E-commerce Consolidation: Weekly Shipments from Germany
Several Latvian e-commerce businesses were ordering stock from German suppliers and fulfillment centers. Each had small volumes - 2 to 8 pallets per week. We created a shared weekly consolidation route that combines their shipments into one truck, reducing costs by 40% compared to individual LTL bookings.
What happened
Each e-commerce company was shipping individually - paying premium rates for small LTL shipments. Delivery times were unpredictable (3-7 days) and damage rates were high due to multiple handling points. They needed a reliable, cost-effective solution.
What made it difficult
- 1Multiple pickup locations across Germany (Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt)
- 2Varīable weekly volumes - 12 to 26 pallets total
- 3Mixed cargo types - electronics, clothing, household goods
- 4Each client needs separate delivery and documentation
How we handled it
Every Monday our truck collects from 3 German hubs, consolidates at our partner warehouse near Hanover, and departs Tuesday evening. Wednesday evening - arrival in Riga with Thursday morning distribution to each client's warehouse. Each client gets individual CMR, packing list, and delivery confirmation. Cost savings of 40% vs individual LTL shipping.
