Getting 12 containers to an island is not the same as shipping to mainland Europe. Limassol port has limited berth capacity, Cyprus roads are narrow and winding, and Mediterranean summer pushes 40 degrees. Every container of LED panels, seating, and steel structures had to survive the heat, clear a small port, and reach the stadium site on trucks built for island-sized streets.
What happened
Limassol port handles far less traffic than Rotterdam or Hamburg - berth slots fill up fast, and delays cascade. The last mile runs through narrow coastal roads not designed for 40-foot container trucks. And Mediterranean summer heat above 40 degrees Celsius is a direct threat to LED electronics sitting inside steel containers on the quay.
What made it difficult

All LED panels and heat-sensitive electronics were wrapped in reflective climate packaging at the factory. On arrival, a local transport partner with island knowledge handled last-mile delivery using shorter trucks suited to Cyprus roads. Customs paperwork was pre-filed two weeks early so clearance took hours, not days.
